Group Treatment Sessions for HMS and hEDS
My group condition management program has come from feedback and innovation.
It offers access to tailored advice and support in developing better management of the symptoms of hypermobilty and hEDS, but in a more affordable structure.
-
1 group treatment session last 1 hour per month
-
No more than a total of 5 people per group
-
Access to ask questions between sessions at weekly drop in clinics
-
An initial one-to-one session with James for a detailed assessment and tailored strategy that relates to your personal needs.
Looking for 1:1 support instead?
What to expect
Joining a group approach to your treatment does not mean you will have less clinical input, it may be more generalised on times, however if you feel that you need a one-to-one session or catch up that can always be arranged.
After signing up for a group treatment package you can expect to receive a confirmation email and receipt. Within this email will be a link to a standardised questionnaire that you are requested to fill in to benchmark your current symptoms. You will also see a link that you'll use to book into James' diary for your Initial 1 hour assessment and commencement of treatment.
Following this session you will have a bespoke and specific strategy of exercises and importantly more understanding of why your body behaves the way it does and the impact of how regularly undertaking the exercises can improve your symptoms and condition management over time.
James will then discuss with you the best time for follow up sessions and then link you with a group who's meeting times are convenient for you. There is also an aim that you will be placed with others who have a similar distribution of symptoms and level of dysfunction, although this can not be guaranteed.
A fundemental component of Hypermobility Condition Management
A simple or extensive google for Hypermobility support would suggest that Core Strengthening is an important thing to do. I whole heartedly agree and this is a foundational component of the treatment I offer.
However, simply trying to strengthen a set of deep muscles that are not actually supposed to be conciously engaged, when you likely have proprioceptive limitations not to mention significant incorrect movement patterns, is not going to work out well.
Working with me will result in starting your core strengthening back a few stages: firstly finding the core and then isolating it. When this is achieved strengthening can commence...but it takes time, often a long time. So forget the normal expectations of improvement in 6 to 8 weeks of treatment...think 'where could I be in a year's time?'.
Is this the right type of support for you?
Group Hypermobility treatment sessions are designed to offer a more affordable option for supporting you in learning how to improve your symptoms and manage your condition to ultimately see a better quality of life.
By their nature they will not be as specific an bespoke as one-to-one sessions. For lots of people this is just fine, however if you are finding that your symptoms are having a significant impact on your daily life or that you have other conditions that may also be contributing to your symptoms, one to one sessions may be more appropriate for you. You can find out more about them here and if you are not sure which approach you should sign up for please reach out to James for a specific discussion about where you would be best suited to join.

About James Rind
I’m James Rind MSc, a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience. I have worked across hospitals, private practice, occupational health and primary care, and more recently have developed a particular interest in supporting people with hypermobility.
My approach combines practical physiotherapy guidance with a broader understanding of pacing, wellbeing, stress and long-term symptom management. I created this programme to offer a supportive and accessible way for people to receive specialist input without the need for regular 1:1 sessions.
